As a born and bred Haligonian, Mike is well known in almost all circles in Halifax. For the past 20 years, Mike has owned and operated a number of successful businesses, among them a sporting goods franchise, a photography gallery and 'Mike's Tackle Shop', a specialty fishing store that combined his business acumen with his passion for Atlantic Salmon fishing.
Mike's reputation as one of the best anglers in the world has given him the opportunity to "wet a line" with Hollywood, having fished with Robert Duval, Timothy Dalton and Dennis Leary.

Mike lives in the Wedgewood Subdivision of Halifax with his wife, Ann, a Chartered Accountant, and their children, Mark, 18, and Heather, 17. Mike is Past-President of the Nova Scotia Salmon Association and has co-chaired their annual fundraising Dinner/Auction. He serves as President of the Halifax West High School PTA, in the most volatile time in the school's history. Last year, with focused determination, Mike achieved his black belt in Karate (Uechiryu) - a phenomenal achievement for someone who initially couldn't get his hands and feet to work together!
